If cinnamon is your jam, this recipe for French toast has just enough to make your eats cozy and delicious!

Best Cinnamon French Toast Recipe

While most French toast recipes include cinnamon, I believe that the best recipe is one that has just enough cinnamon flavor without overpowering the sweetness of the egg and milk mixture.

The other thing that separates good French toast from the rest is the crisp golden edges that can only be achieved by ensuring the pan is hot enough before cooking it.

And if cinnamon is your thing, you can sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top and drizzle the French toast with cinnamon syrup!

Ingredients

To make delicious French toast that bursting with cinnamon flavor you’ll need:

  • Eggs: the nutritious base of French toast, it will be soaked up by the bread.
  • Milk:  You can use any type of milk, it will help thin out the whisked eggs and be absorbed by the bread.
  • Vanilla Extract: adds richness to the flavor of this epic breakfast.
  • Salt: just one small pinch will enhance the sweetness of this recipe.
  • Cinnamon: the star of this delicious recipe!
  • Bread: uThe best breads to use for French toast are thick ones like Teas toast, sourdough, or a country loaf.

What is the Ratio of Eggs to Milk for French Toast?

The eggs to milk ratio for making a soaking mixture for French toast is a personal preference. I like to use less than one egg and one tablespoon of milk per slice of bread; which is why in this recipe there are 6 eggs, ¼ cup milk (8 tablespoons) for 8 slices of French toast.

The ratios are less important than the type of bread you are using; which is why you can also make French toast without milk and Egg Free French Toast.

The trick to perfect French toast is making sure the bread soaks up just enough of the egg and cinnamon mixture but not so much that it breaks up when you lift it -you’ll get soggy results this this.

Making sure the pan is hot before you place the French toast is also important to create a nice golden sear.

How to Top Cinnamon French Toast

Although cinnamon French toast tastes delicious with a little butter and syrup, I love topping it with a few banana slices or other fruits. Powdered sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon syrup, or classic syrup are also great options for topping French Toast.
